Gaia's Visit

Addie's friend Gaia was over for a visit while her parents packed up the house - they're moving next week :(

Addie and Gaia had a great time together!

They dressed up. There were many wardrobe changes. Most included dresses and glass slippers.

They ate lunch in front of the Backyardigans.

There wasn't a lot of eating going on, but they were having fun!

They played outside with chalk and bubbles.

I made a (pretty awesome, I must say) fort out of the couch which they filled with anything not nailed down.

Naturally, they also spent time brushing hair and pretending to do makeup...with a chalkboard eraser.

We will miss sweet Gaia!

Addie's favorite shows are preceded by commercials targeted at kids. We have the shows recorded and I usually fast-forward through the commercials. I guess she sees more of them than I think: She saw a picture of the ChuckECheese mascot on a coupon and said "look!"
I asked her if she knew who it was without saying his name.
Her reply: "that's Chucky Jesus."

Anamstics

A sports complex about 20 minutes from our house opens the gymnastics arena to kids for an hour on Wednesdays. For$6, kids can be wide open in a huge padded room. It's great. Addie really liked using her balance and jumping around in the foam pits.

Her friend Sam goes to the gym and was teaching Addie all sorts of tricks like jumping from the high beam into the foam. First she had to climb the ladder.

Here's a shot of Sam mid-air, just to give an idea of how high it is for a 2 year old.

She had a great time. We'll go back again, I'm sure!

Addie's first drawing of a person

She calls it a balloon because it has a string. But it also has eyes, ears, a mouth, and a mustache. She started with the balloon then surprised herself when she realized she had drawn a recognizable picture. Now she draws "balloons" over and over.
